A Guided Meditation for Happiness and Peace

Meditation is a process where you clear your mind and regulate your breath in order to relax and rejuvenate your body. Meditation can reduce pain, illness, stress and bring happiness and peace into your otherwise busy life. Allow this guided meditation to bring you to your happy place.

Sit or lay down in a comfortable position, close your eyes and begin to slow down, and deepen your breath. I like to keep my favorite crystals close by as they intensify my meditation experience. Now notice as the air travels in through your nose and out your mouth. Imagine your body becoming heavier with every exhalation. Spend a few minutes settling and enjoying this sensation.

Now imagine you are walking down a long hallway lit up with candles. With each step you take, you delve deeper into the experience. You pass doors on your right and doors on your left, however, you notice a door at the end of the hallway with a golden glow creeping through the cracks. You are naturally drawn to this door. Continue to walk, and continue to relax.

You finally reach the door you have been gravitating towards and you notice a wicker basket on the ground. In this basket, you place all your fears, worries and stresses. Anything that does not serve you and anything that is weighing you down. Continue to breathe deeply and rhythmically.

Once you feel light and worry-free gently open the door and step inside the empty room. In this room you are the designer, you have full reign to create the happy space of your dreams. Begin to choose the colors that bring your warmth, the smells that make you reminisce and the sounds that bring you comfort. Decorate this room with all the things that bring joy to you. A comfy chair or bed, crystals and artwork, plants and pets. This is your space, your happy place…. so take all the time you need to create the perfect spot.

Now that you have designed your safe place, take a seat, or lay down and bask in its glory. Inhale the beauty and light that it exudes, and know that at any time in your life you can make your way to this space no matter where you are or what you are struggling with. Know that anytime you can change the way this place looks, sounds, smells, and feels. Take 10 more deep breathes and make this place your own.

As you slowly make your way back to the door, take one last look around and smile. Slowly open the door and exit your new place. Now, you have the choice to take back all the worries and stresses that you placed into the basket earlier, or you can simply make your way back down the hallway. Take a moment to decide.

Begin to walk away from your safe place. The further you travel the more aware you become of your body. Wiggle your fingers, your toes. Rotate your ankles and wrists and gently begin to move. With 3 more deep breathes you can open your eyes and absorb your meditative state.

Go back to your happy place often. When you’re feeling down, or tense, or maybe just to boost the happiness you are feeling at the time. Your safe place is yours and will always be there whenever you need it.

Meditation Tip: Record this on your phone and then all you have etc do is listen and relax.
